Retired U.S. Air Force Colonel Tim Farrell Joins Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Executive Team

SAN ANTONIO, July 21, 2025 — The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the appointment of Col. Tim Farrell, U.S. Air Force (Retired) as Vice President of Military Affairs, Aerospace & Cybersecurity, further strengthening its executive leadership team and commitment to the region’s strategic military and defense industries.

“Tim is uniquely qualified for this role, as he served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years, including his role as Commander of the U.S. Air Force Security Forces Academy at JBSA, represented City Council District 9 on the City of San Antonio’s Commission on Veteran Affairs, and helped lead several nonprofit organizations,” said Jeff Webster, President & CEO of the Greater Chamber. “He brings a wealth of experience, deep relationships within Joint Base San Antonio, and a passion for serving our military community. Tim will be instrumental in advocating for defense funding, enhancing military family support, and ensuring San Antonio remains a national leader in military presence and readiness as Military City USA.”

Farrell’s appointment comes at a critical time as evolving national defense priorities increase the need for local leadership that can bridge military and civilian interests. In addition to his military career, Farrell remains active in the community as a trustee for both the World Affairs Council of San Antonio and the Planned Giving Council of San Antonio. He also serves as a Texas advisor and national advocate with the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition’s “Veterans for Smart Power” initiative and dons a different kind of uniform on Friday nights as a high school football official with the Texas Association of Sports Officials.

“At a pivotal moment for both our national and economic security, San Antonio’s infrastructure, investment, and—most importantly—its people are vital to our nation's ability to train, sustain, and deploy military forces and leadership,” said Farrell. “I’m honored to take on this role and continue serving the community in a new capacity.”

Farrell’s leadership will enhance the Chamber’s efforts in supporting Joint Base San Antonio and the broader military ecosystem that is essential to the region’s economy and national defense posture.

"I'm honored to join the Greater Chamber as we continue our 130-year-plus legacy of service that will reinforce why we're Military City USA, are consistently growing our aerospace infrastructure and capacity, and have rapidly become the nation's example-setter in cybersecurity innovation, education, workforce development and leadership," said Farrell.
