Industrial-commercial electrical contractor George McKenna is growing its footprint by opening an office in San Antonio, signaling continued expansion across Texas. The company, which has operated for more than four decades, launched its San Antonio location at 500 Navarro St. late last year under the leadership of Operations Manager Paige Cornett.

Founded in Irving, TX in 1982, George McKenna built a strong reputation in the Dallas-Fort Worth market before being acquired by Ascension Property Services in 2021, a move that expanded its capacity and geographic reach. Since entering the San Antonio market, the company has landed approximately $50 million in contracts for fiscal year 2026.

George McKenna provides a range of services including electrical contracting, system integration, design-build and pre-construction. The company distinguishes itself by keeping its security systems and audio-visual services in-house while also offering structured cabling and turnkey design-build solutions.

A member of the American Subcontractors Association, the company emphasizes strong industry relationships and a selective approach to partnerships. Cornett said that strategy is key to maintaining quality and reliability across projects.

As part of its expansion strategy, George McKenna has joined the Greater San Antonio Chamber to deepen its connections within the local business community. “We’ve become highly selective with who we entrust because we understand the value of building quality networks,” Cornett said. “The Greater Chamber knows everything. They know everybody. If they’re not in on it, they know exactly what’s going on. That’s where I need to position George McKenna in staying in the know.”
