San Antonio has again claimed the No. 3 spot on Penske Truck Rental's annual Top Moving Destinations list, holding its ranking for the second consecutive year as Americans continue migrating south in search of affordability, community and opportunity.

The annual list, now in its 16th year, tracks the highest volume of one-way consumer truck rentals across the country. San Antonio finished behind only Houston, the top destination for the fifth straight year, and Atlanta. Texas dominated the 2025 rankings, claiming four of the top 10 spots.

The repeat ranking is no accident. San Antonio has long offered what newly arriving residents say they're looking for. Penske's companion "Settling In: Consumer Moving Trends Survey" found that Americans prioritize a fresh start (41%) and lower cost of living (32%) when deciding to relocate, two areas where San Antonio consistently surpass above its weight among major metros.

But the data also reveals something deeper than economics. When survey respondents were asked what would drive their decision if money were no object, weather and proximity to loved ones topped the list qualities San Antonio delivers in abundance through its year-round sunshine, multigenerational neighborhoods and a cultural identity rooted in deep community ties.

That community fabric is part of what makes San Antonio's growth story different. While 61% of movers say they want vibrant communities with easy access to restaurants and entertainment, 59% simultaneously want a quieter, slower pace of life. San Antonio's mix of a world-class River Walk and culinary scene alongside tight-knit neighborhoods like Southtown, Pearl and Stone Oak put it in rare company as a city that genuinely delivers both.
