Spurs Sports & Entertainment announced a team of nine nationally recognized firms Tuesday to guide planning, design, financing and development of its proposed downtown arena and surrounding mixed-use district in the heart of the city.

The project team includes Marquee Development for district real estate, Sasaki as master district planner, Overland International as arena architect, Pape-Dawson for civil engineering, CAA ICON for project management, Stafford Sports for strategic advisory, Goldman Sachs for financial advisory, Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP as legal counsel, and Jorge Rodriguez Financial Consulting as a local financial consultant.

Several firms carry deep San Antonio roots. Pape-Dawson, a San Antonio-based engineering firm with more than six decades of experience, will lead environmental, civil and traffic engineering efforts. Jorge Rodriguez Financial Consulting, also headquartered in San Antonio, will provide local financial guidance to help ensure the project aligns with community priorities. Sasaki previously led the Arboretum San Antonio master plan, bringing established local knowledge to the district visioning process.

Overland International, the designated arena architect, will design a facility intended to reflect San Antonio's culture, history and identity while delivering a competitive fan experience. Marquee Development, the real estate arm of the Ricketts family, majority owners of the Chicago Cubs will lead development of retail, hospitality and community-focused spaces surrounding the arena, with year-round programming planned for the district.

The project will combine national expertise with local insight across planning, design, development and finance, with partners working alongside local firms and community stakeholders throughout the process.

SS&E owns and operates the San Antonio Spurs, Austin Spurs and San Antonio FC. The investor group is led by Managing Partner Peter J. Holt.
