On July 1, 2026, LSA50 came together for the first of two legacy volunteer events, “Magic While You Wait Day,” a meaningful day designed to deepen connections among class members, strengthen learning through service, and celebrate San Antonio’s one-of-a-kind generosity of heart. The Magic While You Wait Day united LSA50 class members, Steering Committee and LSA Alumni in a city-wide mentoring opportunity and day of service experience in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS). The day offered participants an immediate and powerful opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child while learning more about the important work of BBBS and the children waiting to be matched with mentors.
Each participant was paired with a Little Brother or Little Sister from the Big Brothers Big Sisters waiting list. The morning began with a large-group breakfast and structured mentoring session, giving participants time to connect with their “Littles,” build trust, and engage in meaningful conversation. Following the morning mentoring experience, participants were organized into four teams to complete community service projects at SAMMinistries, Corazon, Christian Assistance Ministries (CAM) and Haven for Hope. Through projects such as assembling hygiene kits, staining tables, sorting donations, and making lunches for working residents, LSA50 provided critical support for individuals experiencing homelessness and reinforced its commitment to addressing community needs with compassion and action.
In the afternoon, participants and their “Littles” reconvened as one large group at SeaWorld San Antonio for an afternoon of fun, friendship, and continued mentoring. The shared experience celebrated connection, joy, and the lasting power of showing up for others.
Together, Magic While You Wait Day reflected the spirit of LSA50: leading through service, building authentic relationships, and creating moments of impact that extend well beyond a single day.
