Local college students explored career opportunities, forged professional connections and sharpened their job-search skills during Stay in SA, an intern and employer mixer held July 30 in recognition of National Intern Day.
Coordinated by the City of San Antonio and The Greater San Antonio Chamber, the annual event encourages young adults to pursue careers in San Antonio and strengthen the region's future workforce by connecting them with local employers and career resources.
"San Antonio is the best place to start a career," said Greater San Antonio Chamber President & CEO Jeff Webster. "We have incredible businesses of all sizes and in various industries that are looking for talented young professionals. And you can't beat San Antonio's great quality of life, friendly atmosphere, low cost of living, and vibrant neighborhoods that offer unique places to live, work and connect."
The event was geared to participants in the City of San Antonio's Ambassador Summer Internship Program, which places college students in internships with government, nonprofit and private-sector organizations. The program provides valuable professional experience while encouraging graduates to launch their careers in San Antonio.
Throughout the event, students participated in hands-on activities designed to prepare them for the job market and build confidence as they begin their professional journeys. Representatives from Texas A&M University-San Antonio helped students refine their elevator pitches, while Dress for Success offered guidance on professional workplace attire. Students also received professional headshots from Little Lemon Shots and learned interview etiquette and first-impression strategies from Graceful Etiquette.
Stay in SA reflects a shared commitment by the City of San Antonio, The Greater San Antonio Chamber and local employers to retain talented young professionals and ensure they see San Antonio as not only a great place to attend college, but also a place to build meaningful, long-term careers.
