Greater San Antonio Chamber members recently gathered at The Doseum to learn more about the chamber’s initiatives during the Annual All Members Meeting & Mixer, presented by PAM Health. Themed “Think Big, Play Together,” the event had a playful vibe with fun attractions and entertainment, including horses from the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, an appearance by the Spurs Coyote and other mascots, scooter demonstrations by Bird, and much more.
The main draw was a fireside chat moderated by Chuck Cureau, SeaWorld San Antonio’s Public Relations Director, and featuring Kevin Dinnin, Greater San Antonio Chamber Chair and FirstDay Foundation President & CEO, and Jeff Webster, Greater San Antonio Chamber President & CEO. This discussion touched on everything from the city budget shortfall, and the new Spurs arena, to the redevelopment of the Coliseum grounds for the Stock Show & Rodeo, and the business community’s vision for San Antonio.
“To make San Antonio a truly world-class city, we need to continue focusing our energy on attracting good-paying jobs anchored in key industries, like advanced manufacturing, healthcare, cybersecurity, aerospace and defense. We need to grow our role as Military City, USA by attracting additional missions and investments to our military installations. And we need to take the next step in developing our downtown, so it’s filled with businesses, restaurants, entertainment attractions, housing, and public spaces that attract residents and visitors alike,” he said.
Dinnin shared his thoughts on how local leaders can work together to fulfill San Antonio’s potential. “It will take a shared vision, sustained investment and a willingness to work together across the public and private sectors to fulfill our vision. We need to develop the next generation of business leaders to help shape an exciting vision for the future of our community and coalesce support around the ideas and initiatives that will move our community forward,” Dinnin said.
The event wrapped up with a call to local business leaders to get involved by joining the chamber’s Councils and Committees, getting involved with its advocacy efforts, engaging with other leaders at events, and serving as proponents for the business community’s priorities.
