The San Antonio Chamber Board of Directors recently voted unanimously to accept the appointment of the Chamber’s Executive Vice President Dave Petersen as the organization’s Interim President and CEO.
Dave began his employment with the Chamber in April 2015 after a 30-year career in the United States Air Force, where he retired as a Brigadier General. Throughout his career, he served as an F-15 pilot; commanded at the squadron, group and wing levels; and retired as the Deputy Director of Intelligence, Operations and Nuclear Integration for Flying Training at the Air Education and Training Command, Randolph AFB, Texas.
Following his retirement from the US Air Force, Dave has served as an independent consultant and small business owner and worked as a senior executive at a Fortune 100 company. He has had both business and volunteer leadership positions in addition to his military leadership experience.
“Dave has been the Chamber’s Executive Vice President and second-in-command for the last seven years. He understands the ins and outs of the organization and has played an integral role in the execution of this year’s governance restructure and the development of the Chamber’s new strategic plan,” said Phil Green, the Chamber’s 2022 Chair of the Board and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cullen/Frost Bankers, Inc. and Frost Bank. “I believe the Chamber is in excellent hands with Dave as the Interim President and CEO.”
“As I enter into my year serving as Chair of the Board, I feel extremely confident and comfortable in Dave’s ability to lead the Chamber through a period of transition,” said Katie Harvey, 2023 Chair of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of KGBTexas Communications. “He has vast experience, is an excellent and respected leader and understands the importance of the position and the direction the organization is headed.”
“I am honored to serve as the Chamber’s Interim President and CEO,” said Dave Petersen. “I have had the privilege of working alongside Richard Perez and other outstanding leaders for the last seven years, and I am excited about the future of the organization. The team and I are ready to begin executing a comprehensive strategic plan to take the Chamber to the next level and ensure future success.”
